Combining Ability and Gene Action in Sunflower Using Line*Tester Method
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
In order to analyze general and specific combining abilities and gene effects in sunflower for some agronomic traits, five CMS lines and four restorer lines (tester) were crossed in a line × tester scheme. Hybrids were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with three replications in the Agriculture Research Station, University of Tabriz, in 2009 and 2010 growing seasons. Plant height, head diameter, empty seeds per head, days to beginning of flowering, days to maturity, stem diameter and 1000 seed weight were found to be controlled mainly by additive gene effects and over-dominance effect was important for days to end of flowering. Oil yield, oil percent, head dry weight, seed weight per head, seed yield and hulled seed yield were under the control of both additive and non-additive effects. CMS lines 52, 148 and testers R50, R25 were best general combiners for seed and oil yield. The hybrid combination of R50 × 222 showed high specific combining ability for seed and oil yield.

for different agronomic traits in sunflower (helianthus annuus l.) inbred lines were estimated using “line × tester” analysis method. six new restorer lines were crossed with four cms lines as tester in 2006 growing season. the 24 f1 single cross combinations were planted in complete randomized block design with four replications in khoy field research station in 2007 growing season. there were...
متن کاملgene action and combining ability of important agronomic traits in rapeseed (brassica napus l.)
inheritance of yield and its contributing characters in rapeseed (brassica napus l.) was studied in a 8×8 diallel cross through griffing and jinks-hayman analyses. both general combining ability (gca) and specific combining ability (sca) were highly significant for seed yield, seed weight and branches per plant, while only gca for seeds per pod and oil content and only sca for pods per plant an...
متن کاملEstimation of Combining Ability and Gene Action for Agro-Morphological Characters of Rapeseed (Brassica Napus L.) Using Line×Tester Mating Design
Combining ability effects were estimated for different agronomic characters in line × tester crossing program comprising 21 hybrids produced by crossing 7 lines and 3 testers. Parents and hybrids differed significantly for general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) effects, respectively. The variance due to GCA and SCA showed that gene action was predominantly additive...
متن کاملEstimation of Combining Ability and Gene Effects in Forage Maize (Zea mays L.) Using Line × Tester Crosses
Abstract Determination of gene effects and combining abilities is a critical stage in maize hybrid breeding. In the present study, 20 S6 lines as female and three S6 inbred lines (K18, K19 and K1264/5-1) as tester were crossed and the resulting test cross progenies were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with three replications in 2008. During the growing period, several agronomi...
